FAQs

How to make banana bread Colin uses 3 4 of a cup of brown sugar for every 2 cups of flour? ›

Final answer:

By applying the ratio in the original recipe, Colin should use 3/8 of a cup of brown sugar for every 1 cup of flour in his banana bread.

Why do you have to wait for banana bread to cool? ›

If the loaf is still warm once it's wrapped for storage, condensation can form, which can lead to mold. Ensuring the whole loaf has fully cooled, which takes about one to two hours, will aid in better storage for longer-lasting banana bread.

Will too much baking soda ruin banana bread? ›

Too much baking soda will make your banana bread taste odd, a little bitter and salty. And it will make the batter rise to high. That might sound like a good thing, but the rest of the ingredients aren't sturdy enough to support the rise, so the bread will collapse.

Can you leave freshly baked banana bread out overnight? ›

To store homemade banana bread at room temperature: Place a paper towel at the bottom of an airtight container or in a zip-top bag. Place the cooled banana bread on top of it, then cover the loaf with another paper towel. Seal the container tightly and store at room temperature for up to four days.

What happens if you add too much banana to banana bread? ›

Using too much banana could make your bread heavy and damp in the center, causing it to appear undercooked and unappealing. If you have bananas leftover, you can always freeze them for later use.

Why is my banana bread still gooey after an hour? ›

Using a lot of bananas adds excess moisture, and there are two ways to get rid of it. You could either add more flour or increase the baking time. Add a tablespoon of extra flour at a time into the batter and give it a good whisk until its consistency starts to look right: thick but runny enough to fall off a spoon.

What is a substitute for 3 4 cups of brown sugar? ›

Mix 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of molasses to mimic a cup of light brown sugar. Mix 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of molasses to mimic a cup of dark brown sugar. If you don't have molasses on hand, you can combine white sugar with another liquid sweetener, like maple syrup or honey.

How does the brown sugar bread trick work? ›

Add a slice of bread to approximately eight ounces of brown sugar in an airtight container. After eight hours, in most cases, the brown sugar will soften. Please note, however, that if the brown sugar is extremely hard, it may take up to 24 hours for this method to be effective.

How to make 3 4 cup brown sugar? ›

One tablespoon of molasses per cup of granulated sugar will make something close to "light brown sugar." Add additional molasses a half-tablespoon at a time for a richer flavor and darker color closer to dark brown sugar.

How much honey equals 3 4 cup of brown sugar? ›

Honey is much sweeter than sugar, so use 1/2 - 2/3 cup honey for every cup of sugar in your recipe. Because honey is sweeter than sugar, you might not want to substitute at a 1-1 ratio (even though you can up to one cup).
