Kodo millet or varagu arisi is a very healthy millet variety and we can make many south Indian recipes with it. We can just replace rice and make varagu pongal, varagu upma varagu idli etc. Trust me the taste is the same as you use regular rice. Those who are trying to incorporate millet in your diet and looking for tasty millet recipe should definitely try these varau recipes. Kodo millet dosa recipe is an easy millet dosa recipe I tried recently. Usually for doa recipe I add idli rice or par boiled rice, raw rice, urad dal and methi seeds. Here I have slightly altered the proportions to make crispy and thin millet dosa recipe. You can use any millet variety to make this millet dosa recipe.
In this kodo millet dosa recipe, I have used 1/2 cup raw rice, 1 1/2 cups kodo millet, 1/4 cup urad dal and 2 teapoons methi seeds. I have slightly increasTed the amount of methi seeds in this millet dosa recipe for its health benifits. The dosas turned out to be really good. he batter was very good to handle, you can make paper thin dosas or thick sponge dosas as per preference. As I said the taste of these dosas were too good and the flavor was also very good. No one could actually make out these were millet dosas.
To make millet dosa recipe you can use raw rice or just use millet exclusively. I like to use little raw rice in dosa recipes for making crispy dosas. You can use this batter to make crispy dosa, uthappam or even paniyaram.
Serve millet dosa with sambar, podi or chutney.
